Meet the Clowns

Huffy
Tom Hufford (Huffy), Fire Station 18, "B" Platoon

Tom Hufford, AKA Huffy the Clown has been a Tulsa Firefighter for 23 years. His rank is Assistant Fire Marshal, Community Relations/Public Education, Tulsa Fire Department. On his time off duty he has been the President of the Tulsa Firefighters Educational Clown non-profit (501-C3) 100% volunteer organization for the last 20 years. He is responsible for running the organization, managing all branch directors, committee heads, and generating new volunteers & sponsors. He also takes care of the equipment used in their presentations & special events and storage. He does the scheduling, choreographs the skits, and builds the props needed. He is dedicated to teaching as many children as possible about safety information to prevent injuries with the volunteers and sponsorship that he can generate.

"Huffy" started clowning in and around the Tulsa area in 1986. He is the "Number One Children's Entertainer" in the Tulsa, OK area, entertaining & educating over 130,000 children and parents annually performing as Huffy the clown, Firefighter Tom, and Tom the Great Magician. He has received many awards, and is a member of just about every Clown Organization you can think of! He is also involved with the Safe Kids Coalition, Oklahoma Safety Council, and many others. Bryan Henderson (Sparks the Safety Dog)

Bryan Henderson, AKA Sparks the Safety Dog. Bryan has been one of Huffy's most active volunteers for many years. Along with performing as Sparks the Safety Dog at parades, and special events, Bryan is always there to help set up, run, and tear back down events. Bryan helps with raising funds for the organization, and is one of those "behind the scenes" people that Huffy & Friends could not operate without. We love you Bryan!

Bunker Man David Pruitt (Bunker Man), Fire Station 18, "B" Platoon

David is the Fire Equipment Operator assigned to Engine 18. He also serves as Secretary/Apartment Manager of the FF Clowns. David's character is special in that he doesn't put on make up, he puts on firefighting bunker gear and SCBA. This familiarizes the children with the sights and sounds of Firefighters who may have to rescue them from a fire or other situation. His character teaches children that even though the Firefighters look and sound strange, they are always there to help.

Bunker Man Mark Lewis (Bunker Man), Fire Station 14, "B" Platoon

Mark is the Fire Equipment Operator assigned to Engine 14. Mark's character, like David's, is special in that he doesn't put on make up, he puts on firefighting bunker gear and SCBA. This familiarizes the children with the sights and sounds of Firefighters who may have to rescue them from a fire or other situation. His character teaches children that even though the Firefighters look and sound strange, they are always there to help.

Pooh Scott Winford (Pooh), Fire Station 29, "B" Platoon

Scott is a Fire Equipment Operator on Engine 29. He is relatively new the FF Clowns' organization but has really became a "crowd pleaser". His character is loved by children and adults alike. Scott's eagerness and enthusiasm masks his lack of experience and consequently he performs like a seasoned veteran. Scott is also the head janitor/maintenance man/lawn mower repair man for the Clown Organization.

Bunker Man Bill French (Bunker Man), Fire Station 26, "B" Platoon

Bill is the Fire Captain assigned to Engine 26. Bill's character, like Mark's, is special in that he doesn't put on make up, he puts on firefighting bunker gear and SCBA. This familiarizes the children with the sights and sounds of Firefighters who may have to rescue them from a fire or other situation. His character teaches children that even though the Firefighters look and sound strange, they are always there to help.

Choochie John Boysel (Choochie), Fire Station 7, "C" Platoon

John is a Firefighter on Engine 7. In the short time that John has been with the Tulsa Fire Department, he has established himself as a person that is always willing to lend a helping hand. When asked about joining the TFD Clowns, he was more than willing to assist in teaching Fire Safety to the children of Tulsa. (P.S. He's been known to wreck a fire truck!)

Bunker Man Dave Miller (Bunker Man), Fire Station 14, "B" Platoon

Dave is a Firefighter on Ladder 14. Dave's character, like Bill's, is special in that he doesn't put on make up, he puts on firefighting bunker gear and SCBA. This familiarizes the children with the sights and sounds of Firefighters who may have to rescue them from a fire or other situation. His character teaches children that even though the Firefighters look and sound strange, they are always there to help.

JoJo John Stapleton (JoJo), Fire Station 18, "B" Platoon

Jo Jo - AKA John Stapleton is now a captain at Fire Station 28, B Platoon. Jo Jo has been a long time best buddy of Huffy, and is a driving force for our Life & Fire Safety Efforts. He is also a Photographer, and owns "Stapleton Photography" and volunteers for our Burn Camp and other events for the organization.

Bubbles Glen Scheid (Bubbles), Fire Station 31, "B" Platoon

Glen has pretty much retired from the Clown Organization. However, he is quickly forgiven when he makes his "world-famous" cinnamon rolls!!! Bet you can't eat just one!

Boo Boo "Boo Boo" (Bruce Long)

It all began June 4, 1977. Some of Boo Boo's awards are: 1979, ISCA-1st Place Skit and 3rd Place in Parade, 1991, CSSCA-1st Place in Whiteface Makeup, "Top 10" in Balloons and Parade Ability at the 1993 COAI National Convention. Boo Boo does birthday parties and even has a clown shop in his home! He does balloon creations, Krazy juggling, silly magic and rides a one wheel bicycle. Bozzy "Bozzy" (Danny Smith)

This clown is CRAZY!! He will dazzle you with his 10 years experience as a clown entertainer. He's a juggler, balloon twister, does stage shows and walk-around clowning tricks. "Huffy" says, "They don't get any better than this guy!". "Bozzy" always has the crowd laughing!! His married to the owner of the Clowning Around Company, "Buttons". Buttons "Buttons" (Donna Smith)

"Buttons" owns the Clowning Around Company here in Tulsa. She has been professional clown for over 10 years and has worked with "Huffy" and the Tulsa Firefighters Educational Clowns for the last eight years.

Chatters "Chatters the Clown" (Sherry Ayers)

"Chatters the Clown" is a great party clown with 6 years experience. Her specialties are her love for children, a great face painting talent, a balloon twister, clown magic and walk-around clowning. She is available for birthdays, company picnics & special events. She also loves to talk clowning. She's fairly new to the Tulsa area but has brought some great clowning experience with her. Homer T "Homer T" (Steve Hause)

"Homer T" has been clowning for over 18 years and is a distinguished and repected entertainer among the clowns in the Tulsa area. His talents include balloon twisting, magic, and walk-around clowning. He's a puppeteer and much more! Jelly Bean "Jelly Bean" (Becky Hollis)

"Jelly Bean" works very close with "Buttons" and "Huffy" at many events around the Tulsa area. She has been clowning for over 8 years performing face painting, balloon twisting, games, holiday skits and just clowing around. You can reach her at 6709 E. 79th Street, Tulsa, OK 74133.

Kandy "Kandy" (Kristen Smith)

"Kandy" comes from a long line of clowns in her family tree. She is trained as a balloon twister, face painter and walk-around clown. She performs skits and is in to juggling. Poopsie "Poopsie" (Diane Hufford)

This is "Huffy's" "better half". "Poopsie" holds down the fort while "Huffy" is out teaching Fire Safety. She is a great face painter and is the backbone of "Huffy's" Party Planning Corporation. She handles the office duties and coordinates events, games, face painters, balloon twisters, entertainers and all the things it takes to put on a special event for up to 10,000 people! Tupper "Tupper" (Steve Smith)

"Tupper" is a professional clown entertainer. He specializes in large events, in state and out of state. He is most famous for his balloon characters and balloon instruments. His phone number is: 918-455-8150.

Whiskers "Whiskers" (Sam Threadgill)

"Whiskers" is a great entertainer that has been clowning in the Tulsa area for 22 years. He performs magic, balloon art and comedy at birthday parties, parades company picnics and churches. Mike Aziere

Retired Tulsa Firefighter "Driver" - Mike is Huffy's "go to guy" when it comes to getting the odd job done. Mike has been at Huffy's side for many, many years. If we need to set up equipment for an event, tear down the equipment at an event, build a parade float, or drive the parade float, Mike is always there! Mike is what we call our "Logistics Man".
