Burn Apartment
|
Firefighters and burn survivors realize all too well the seriousness of the situation involved with burn victims. Therefore, the Tulsa Firefighters Educational Clowns and the Tulsa Area Burn Survivors, through private donations and Sheridan Village Bingo, provide families with a furnished, all bills paid apartment free of charge for the duration of a family member's confinement in the ICU of the Alexander Burn Center. By providing adequate lodging near the Burn Center, we hope to relieve one of the many problems families face during this difficult time. In general, if the patient is in the ICU at the Burn Center and resides outside Tulsa, their family would qualify. However, this is NOT a hard and fast rule. A Social Worker evaluates each family according to their individual needs. For more information on the use of the apartment, contact the Social Worker currently assigned to the Burn Center or Edna Beggs, president of the Tulsa Area Burn Survivors. A BIG part of the credit for the operation of this apartment should go to Edna and Irene Green. They clean the apartment between occupants and are very, very active in it's day to day operation. Because of their tireless efforts, the apartment is a better place and we can't thank them enough!
